President's Message
John Tennyson

Dear Members:
Our April 15-18th 32nd Statewide Meet in Cambria-San Simeon (San Luis Obispo) -
sponsored by our club - was one of our best annual meets. With participants and guests, we
had 66 people and 24 cars, most of whom enjoyed a Thursday tour of the famed Hearst
Castle in San Simeon, and then caravanned on Friday to the Warbirds Museum for a look
at classic cars and military aircraft at the Paso Robles airport, where our cars were lined up
on the tarmac for display with the planes. Saturday began with fog but soon cleared up by
10 am for our car show in downtown Cambria, which included several DeSotos and
Chryslers, in addition to Imperials. The Awards Banquet at Cambria Pines Lodge was our
finale, with Thom Quinn as Master of Ceremonies. Best of Show went to Joel and Mari Lou
Holland, new members from Sumner, Washington - in their outstanding '60 Imperial Crown
Convertible. Most Improved Imperial for this year's Meet was a '57 Imperial Crown 4 door,
owned by Pat and Evelyn Coady of Templeton, CA. The President's Choice was awarded
to John & Barbara Boyd of El Cajon, CA for their '53 DeSoto Firedome Station Wagon. The
Long Distance Award for driving a car participating in the show went to Nick & Asimina
Manole, who drove from Albuquerque, New Mexico in their '88 5th Ave. The Hard Luck
Award went to John & Susan Swensson of Saratoga, CA, who had a broken gas station
pump hose incident with their '90 Imperial. Jack Shea also received a special "Thank You"
award for flying out to our CA meets for the past 11 years from his home in Indianapolis,
Indiana. Thanks to everyone for a good time. Next year's 33rd Meet is tentatively scheduled
for Solvang, CA.
Upcoming, we have Debra Compson's Tour & BBQ in Winters at the home of Jerry Neal & Terrie Hunt, who will open up their
classic car collection for viewing, on Saturday, May 16th. Please sign up by May 8th. Also on tap is the Mopars in the Park car
show in Rancho Cordova, on Saturday, June 27th. Deadline for pre-registering for the lesser fee is June 17th. We are asking you
to join us this year so we can regain our Best Participant Club Award, last won in 2010. Also, the Grillin & Chillin Show in Dixon
will be held on July 16th. Sign-up forms for all these events can be found in our newsletter and the Events page of this website.
IOANC will also participate in the California Automobile Museum's month-long Car Club Cavalcade display this August - a
special exhibit featuring our club and five of our member's show cars. If you are interested, please e-mail me at
johngtennyson@gmail.com for more information. There is no charge, but we can only take 5 cars, first come, first serve. Entry
date will be Saturday, August 1st at 9 am. Tentatively, we are planning a tour of the Dutra Dredging Museum and a lunch in Rio
Vista, CA for August 22nd. More information will be available on this event in our July newsletter and the Events page of this
website.
